Iris Chacón Bio

IRIS Chacón was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. At a very young age, she showed a special talent for the arts and started taking Ballet and Jazz dance lessons. She completed her college studies at the University of Puerto Rico. She is married to Producer and Musical Director, Junno Faria and they have a daughter, Katiria Barbara Faria-Chacón, Attorney, her pride and joy.

With her own television series, “EL SHOW DE IRIS Chacón”, she conquered not only her native Puerto Rican audiences, but also she had the highest ratings ever in Prime Time Television for over 15 years in other International markets like New York, Miami, Chicago, California, Mexico the Dominican Republic, and many others in Central and South America. “LA Chacón”, as her fans call her, was as popular to her Latino audiences as Football is for Americans.

Her singing talent as well as her peculiar style, won her eight Gold and two Platinum records in her Recording career.

IRIS Chacón was the first Hispanic entertainer to appear at the world famous RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL with sold out concerts for three years in a row. Also, performed at the MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, THE RESORTS INTERNATIONAL HOTEL in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Las Vegas, Nevada and many other first class locations, where she is adored. In Mexico, DF, she performed for six months in a row at the Marraquesh Entertainment Center, in Zona Rosa. Had an exclusive contract with Televisa, to perform at “Siempre en Domingo” and many other top TV programs in the network, like “La Movida”, with Veronica Castro. She stayed for a full year, traveling all over Mexico, performing at Theaters, “Palenques”(Cock Fights), and other public and private venues. Recently, she has been asked to perform as a principal, in the Musical, “Salon Mexico”, where she’d be performing with other top Mexican performers in Mexico and other Hispanic Markets in the US.

IRIS Chacón had the lead role in two movies, a Mexican-Spaniard co-production, “QUE BRAVAS SON LAS SOLTERAS”, and “LA MUJER ES UN BUEN NEGOCIO”, produced in Spain, both Musical Comedies: also, was a lead in an Italian-American production, STREET DREAMS, AN EAST SIDE STORY, with co-star, Marc Anthony, JLo’s husband. Several segments of her TV hit series where used in the Madonna movie DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN and most recently, in “EL CANTANTE”, the latest Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s movie.

She has been featured in many top publications like THE DAILY NEWS, THE FACE, INTERVIEW, and with cover stories in GQ, COSMOPOLITAN, THE VILLAGE VOICE, THE NEW YORK TIMES and PEOPLE MAGAZINE, amongst many others.

International renown writer, Luis Rafael Sanchez, wrote a book inspired by Iris, “La Guaracha del Macho Camacho”, and International singer Dexter Poindexter (Felling Hot, Hot, Hot), also wrote a song dedicated to her, “Iris Chacón”.

Hosted a National Radio Program, “IRIS Chacón...EN VIVO”, for three consecutive years out of Orlando, Florida. It was a health, beauty, exercise and nutrition program geared to leading people to a better quality of life. As a Public Speaker in physical training and nutrition, has traveled extensively through the United States and Latin America.

For three years, participated as a leading role in the hit Television series for NICKELODEON TELEVISION NETWORK, “GULLAH, GULLAH ISLAND”, a very successful series for children where she portrayed a bilingual Hispanic mother. This series was taped at UNIVERSAL STUDIOS, FLORIDA at the NICKELODEON studios.

Being a part of several Non-Profit Organizations, she devotes her time off to help children in need in Latin America and her native Puerto Rico.

Produced and starred a ten chapter Mini-Series in Puerto Rico, “LA SEÑORITA ANA”, where she won a Best Actress Award at the Paoli Awards.

Hosted “Caramelo y Chocolate”, a top rated Prime Time radio program for the past three tears.

With her Marketing and Production Company, Fariss Inc., and as the Director of Marketing, she travels the World, bringing an opportunity to our fellow Hispanics, for a better quality of life, both physical and financial, helping them follow there dreams and to start there own businesses, and be successful at it.

Now, is the Spokesperson for MMM, “Medicare y Mucho Mas”, a nationwide leading Medicare service provider, where she performs, and give health and nutrition seminars for people of the Golden Age.

At the most recent Paoli Awards, a local institution of over 20 years in the industry, she was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award, for being a role model in the Entertainment Industry.

At present, she is working on a new record deal, a compilation of romantic ballads, accompanied by her Orchestra and a Trio, a genre that is as hotter as ever.

Su talento para el canto así como su muy peculiar estilo, la han hecho merecedora de DOS DISCOS DE ORO y dos DISCOS PLATINO en su carrera discográfica.

IRIS Chacón, fue la primera artista con un espectáculo latino en haberse presentado en el “RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL” en Nueva York con lleno total por TRES AÑOS CONSECUTIVOS. También actuó en “THE MADISON SQUARE GARDEN”, “THE RESORTS INTERNATIONAL HOTEL” en Atlantic City, Nueva Jersey y en Las Vegas, Nevada. En México DF, estuvo presentándose por seis meses consecutivos en el Centro Nocturno Marraquesh de la Zona Rosa. Fue contratada por Televisa, como Artista exclusiva para actuar en Siempre en Domingo y otros programas de la cadena como “LA MOVIDA”, programa animado por la reconocida actriz Verónica Castro, además de estar en gira por espacio de un año en todo el país haciendo Teatro, Palenques y Fiestas tanto de Pueblo como privadas. La Bomba de Puerto Rico, como también se le apoda a esta afamada vedette, ha sido el tema de muchos artículos en importantes publicaciones como, “THE DAILY NEWS”, “THE FACE”, “INTERVIEW”, y artículos de primera plana para “GQ”, “COSMOPOLITAN”, “THE VILLAGE VOICE”, “THE NEW YORK TIMES” y la revista “PEOPLE”, entre otros.

El afamado escritor Luis Rafael Sanchez, escribió un libro inspirado por Iris, “La Guaracha del Macho Camacho” y el cantante Internacional, Dexter Poindexter (Felling Hot, Hot, Hot), también escribió una canción dedicada a Iris, “Iris Chacón”

Animó su propio programa radial, “IRIS Chacón...EN VIVO”, por tres años consecutivos en la ciudad de Orlando, Florida. Este programa, estaba orientado a la belleza, salud, ejercicios, nutrición, y a ayudar a mejorar la calidad de vida de los HISPANOS de la Florida Central. Como ORADORA PUBLICA EN ENTRENAMIENTO FISICO Y NUTRICION, ha viajado a través de todo Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica. Participó en la serie de Televisión “GULLAH, GULLAH ISLAND”, una serie de televisión dirigida a los niños, transmitida a través de “NICKELODEON TELEVISION NETWORK”, por tres años, y grabada en sus estudios en Orlando, Florida, donde caracterizó a una madre bilingüe en ésta exitosa serie para niños.

Al ser parte de varias organizaciones sin fines de lucro, viaja extensamente, apoyando eventos especiales para estos grupos en necesidad y ayudándolos a desarrollar seminarios de mejoramiento personal.

Produjo, y protagonizó la mini-serie de diez episodios para televisión en Puerto Rico titulada, “LA SEÑORITA ANA”.

Fue la moderadora del programa radial Caramelo y Chocolate, por los pasados tres años.

Ha sido contratada por MMM, Medicare y Mucho Mas, el plan de salud líder en servicios de Medicare en Puerto Rico, para ser la portavoz en su campaña de publicidad, y además, lleva espectáculos, seminarios de salud y nutrición a las personas de la edad dorada.

En los más recientes Premios Paoli, fue galardonada con el Premio Carrera Destacada, como modelo a seguir en la industria del entretenimiento.

Actualmente la Vedette de América, labora en la recopilación de diversos temas musicales del género Romántico con su Trío y Orquesta, para lanzar un nuevo material discográfico basado en ese estilo de música tan añorado por el público. De igual forma continúa activa en el vedettismo que tanta gloria le ha dado, presentando su glamoroso espectáculo musical, acompañada de su cuerpo de baile los “Chacón Dancers” y sus músicos, también junto a su director musical Junno Faría.
